Tammy Jiang is a Taiwanese-born artist based in California, whose work is deeply influenced by her extensive travels and cross-cultural experiences. From a young age, she was captivated by painting, beginning with watercolor and sketching. After relocating to California, Tammy rekindled her passion for art, earning a degree in painting from De Anza College, where she honed her skills in oil and acrylic painting, color and design, art history, 2D and 3D design, and ceramics. In the fall of 2022, she transferred to San Jose State University to pursue a major in Pictorial Art.

Tammy’s artistic vision is shaped by the harmonious blend of Eastern and Western cultures, drawing inspiration from Impressionist masters such as Jean-François Millet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Gauguin, and Vincent Van Gogh. Her diverse body of work encompasses various mediums, including watercolor, oil painting, colored pencil drawing, and printmaking, with a predominant focus on realism. Through meticulous observation of her surroundings, Tammy strives to capture and convey the inherent beauty of nature and everyday life, aiming to evoke a sense of happiness and warmth in her audience.



My Artist Statement

Tammy Jiang is an artist whose work is profoundly influenced by her passion for travel and her appreciation of diverse cultures. Her journeys have taken her to numerous destinations, where she immersed herself in local traditions, authentic cuisine, and distinctive landscapes. These experiences serve as a wellspring of inspiration, enriching her creative process and broadening her artistic perspective.

From a young age, Tammy was drawn to the world of art, beginning with watercolor and sketching. Born in Taiwan, she relocated to California, where her dedication to painting was rekindled. She pursued formal education in the arts, earning a degree in painting from De Anza College. There, she honed her skills in oil and acrylic painting, color theory, design principles, art history, ceramics, and both 2D and 3D design. This comprehensive education has been instrumental in her artistic development, providing her with a solid foundation and a diverse skill set.

In the fall of 2022, Tammy advanced her studies by transferring to San Jose State University, majoring in Pictorial Art. Her work reflects a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western cultural influences, drawing inspiration from renowned Impressionist masters. She holds a deep admiration for French artist Jean-François Millet, whose naturalistic depictions of agrarian life resonate with her appreciation for simplicity and hard work. The vibrant and warm compositions of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, the bold colors and expressive brushwork of Paul Gauguin, and the unique personal palette and dynamic strokes of Vincent van Gogh have all profoundly influenced her artistic vision.

At San Jose State University, Tammy has diligently explored various mediums and techniques, including watercolor, oil painting, colored pencil drawing, and printmaking. Her oeuvre predominantly leans towards realism, aiming to capture the essence of her subjects through meticulous observation. She strives to present the inherent beauty of her surroundings with sophistication and nuance, infusing her work with a deep-seated reverence for nature. Through her art, Tammy aspires to convey a unique perspective that not only reflects her personal experiences but also evokes a sense of joy and contentment in her audience.
